- It was cold and wet outside, but inside of the house it's warm, because the fires burning. Mr. White and his son were playing chess, and Mrs. White was knitting by the fireplace. Then later we meet Sergeant-Major Morris.
- Falling Action
- I've got to stop this!
- The Sergeant warns Mr. White and his family about the monkey's paw, and told him that he should just throw the thing away but instead, Mr. White wishes with the monkey's paw for 200 pounds to pay for mortgage, because his son tells him to. Later Herbert goes off to work, but then one of Herbert's Coworkers came to the Whites' house and told them that their son had been in a very bad accident at work.
- Resolution
- Mr. White wakes up, after being passed out for a while, and his wife is going crazy and she's asking where the monkey's paw is because she wants to bring their son back, by wishing with paw. So since Mr. White had no choice he wished for his son to come back. After that they started hearing banging on the doors and walls of their house.
- THAT"S OUR SON, HE'S HERE!
- Mrs. White knew that the knocking on the door was her son, so she ran to go let him in, Mr. White was scared that his son would get in, because his son was already dead and he didn't want his son coming back from the dead, so he wished quickly, and when his wife opened the door no one was there.
- Mr. White wished just in time, and his son didn't come back. When Mrs. White opened the door, all she saw was a deserted road. Mrs. White started crying out of disappointment, because their son didn't come back, so Mr. White ran to her side.
