  • I want to know what daughter cells are!
  • I want to know all four stages of mitosis!
  • Hello class! today we are going to learn about the cell cycle. Everyone turn to your partner and share a question you hope to have answered!
  • During interphase, the cell carries out typical functions and replicates DNA, to prepare for the 4 stages of mitosis.
  • There are two parts of prophase. Early and late. During early prophase the chromatin condenses into chromosomes while the spindle fibers form.
  • During late prophase the nuclear envelope dissolves, revealing the chromosomes and the spindle fibers interact with the chromosome. at this point, the centrioles start to shift to opposite sides of the cell
  • Metaphase is when the chromosomes line up in the middle of the cell, allowing the spindle fibers to attach to the chromosomes creating the sister chromatid.
  • During anaphase the centromeres split and the sister chromatids are pulled to opposite sides of the cell.
  • Telophase is the final phase of mitosis where the nuclear envelope begins to form around the two new daughter cells.
  • Finally, cytokinesis takes place after mitosis. the cytoplasm divides, ending the cell cycle and bring us back to interphase.
  • My question got answered. I learned that the 4 stages of mitosis are prophase, metaphase, anaphase, and telophase!
  • My question also got answered! Daughter cells are the two cells that stem from the parent cell.
  • So... did your initial question get answered? chat with your partner about what you learned!
