Süžeeskeem Tekst

  • To do obsequious sorrow. But to persever [i]n obstinate condolement is a course [o]f impious stubborness. 'Tis unmanly grief.(Shakespeare 1.2.96-98).
  • By killing his brother King Hamlet, Claudius intervenes the the chain of inheritance, thus intervening the right of primogeniture. Claudius' actions in fratricide goes against the code of honour and community. Ultimately, the courtly culture is undermined as well as loyalty.
  • Truly to speak, and with no addition, [w]e go to gain a little patch of ground [t]he hath in it no profit but the name. (Shakespeare 4.4.18-20).
  • Prince Fortinbras as Prince Hamlet's foil, epitomizes the warrior code by taking on his revenge and following his father's footsteps in retrieving Norway's lost land. Fortinbras represents action whereas Hamlet represents intellectual stagnance. Fortinbras unites his troops to take Poland's patch of barren land.
  • How all occasions do inform against me [a]nd spur my dull revenge. (Shakespeare 4.4.34-35).When honor's at the stake. How stand I, then, [t]hat have a father killed, a mother stained, [e]xcitements of my reason and my blood, [a]nd let all sleep, while to my shame I see. (Shakespeare 4.4.59-62).
  • Fortinbras would jeopardize the safety of his troops for horrid territory and yet, Hamlet still has not sought to his revenge. Hamlet has the most reward for killing Claudius; his revenge is not weak, but his indecisiveness weakens his revenge ploy and slows his process in doing so.
