- To Adam he said,"Cursed is the ground because of you;through painful toil you will eat from itall the days of your life.It will produce thorns and thistles for you,and you will eat the plants of the field.By the sweat of your browyou will eat your food until you return to the ground,since from it you were taken;for dust you areand to dust you will return."And so it came to be.
- Since mankind had their eyes open and could now tell the difference between good and evil, God had no choice to ban mankind from the Garden of Eden. He made them garments from skin and clothed them. He placed a cherubim at the east entrance, along with a flaming sword to guard the Tree of Wisdom.
