- The British Government put a tax on Americans, requiring them to pay for a stamp on important papers or documents. They began taxing to help pay for the French and Indian War. The Americans protest, because they had no representation with what was happening.
- Boston Massacre
- The British government began allowing British Soldiers to live in the colonist's houses, and the colonists had to provide them with food, supplies, and a place to live.
- Boston Tea Party
- The British Government put a tax on tea, paint, lead, and other important imported goods. Also, they allowed the British to search boats or houses without anyone's permission.
- Coercive/Intolerable Acts
- Since you did the Boston Tea Party you can't ship goods in or out, we're shutting down your courts, and getting rid of your Government!!!!
- On March 5th 1770, British soldiers shot and killed 5 people. A big crowd of colonists were threatening the colonists, and after panicking the soldiers shot into the crowd.
- The people in Boston were angry about a tax on tea, so to protest they went onto ships and dumped the tea into the harbor.
- To punish Boston for the Boston Tea Party, they stop Boston from shipping goods in and out. They also shut down all courts in Boston, and get rid of the Massachusetts Government.
