Tell-Tale Heart- Edgar Allen PoeThe men lived in a house where people could live in a room. There was a old man that was friends with the narrator. The narrator liked the old man, but there was something about him that made him angry.
The narrator hated the old man's eye. He would slowly open the old man's door every night which would take about an hour. He was planning to kill him.
The man accidentally made a noise. He woke up the old man. He had to hold still for a long time until he would go back to sleep. But the man noticed something and he had to act quick.
The narrator decided to suffocate the old man to death by putting his bed on top of him. It muffled the sounds of him as well. When he was dead, he cut him up and buried him under some floor boards.
The narrator had visitors. He decided to be very welcoming and invited them into the old man's room. They were talking until he heard ringing in his ears. It drove him so crazy that he admitted the murder.
Symbolism. I believe that this lantern was very important. The narrator keeps mentioning it whenever he is sneaking into the old man's room. He also uses this as a light source.
