Süžeeskeem Tekst

  • The 38th Parallel. On one side, communist North Korea, supported by the USSR. On the other: pro-American South Korea.
  • Tensions are higher than ever as Koreans on both sides want a united government, but the two influencing countries can't come to an agreement.
  • June 1950. The war begins when North Koreans crossed the 38th Parallel and invaded in order to try and unite the country by force.
  • We must stop communism from spreading! With China and the USSR out of the UN, we can even use the UN forces instead of just the US army!
  • The war was a back and forth. First, the North was winning. Then the South, led by MacArthur until he was fired for insubordination and replaced by Bradley. Then another push from the North, supported by China.
  • This went on for 2 long years.
  • The stalemate led to Eisenhower signing a truce. Borders remained exactly like they started. Some question whether it was worth it.
  • The war sent out a STRONG message: the US would fight to repress communism. It would set the pattern for future Cold War battles.
