Siddhartha's mother has a dream that a white baby elephant blessed her. She was pregnant with her Buddhist baby boy, witches her son before she gives birth to him.
A miracle in nature occurs when a tree bends to support Siddartha's mother as she gives birth. she feels almost no pain at birth and he could walk and talk as soon as he was born. He takes 7 steps and lotus flowers bloom in his path.
I was born to reach to the enlightment.
Siddhartha's father asks a wise man to protect his son's future. He was born into a royal family, and a wise man predicted that Sid would have 2 futures. They were to become a king or to become a religious leader. Sid's father wanted him to become a king.
I want him to be the king!
He will be a great king or a religious leader. If he becomes the king, he will rule the world. If he becomes a monk, he will be the buddha.
He grows up to live a life of luxury and wealth, inside the palace walls shielded from suffering. Siddhartha's dream is reach all the way to the enlightenment.
Siddartha speaks to his best friend Channa about his want to see the world. He wants to leave the palace to go see the 4 sights.
I want to leave and see the world.
Ok.
He leaves the palace walls and sees four sights, which changed his life. When he left the castle, he saw a sick man, an old man, and a corpse. He, then, saw a monk walking in peace not inflicted by the suffering of humanity. He started to question the origin of suffering and the answer to it.
Uh, are you ok?
Hey there.
The old man
The sick man
Hmm, what's he doing here?
The dead man
Ascetic monk
Sid goes out into the forest to do something about this. He meets the Hindu gurus, but realizes that their way of life is not for him. He keeps on searching and comes across the Ascetics. The Ascetics don't eat much, so when Sid ate more than he was "supposed" to, they abandoned him.
The Hindu gurus
The Ascetics
Sorry, we have to abandon you because we don't eat much as you do.
Yeah, I just ate more food.
Siddhartha saw the holy man so happy with nothing, and desired to run away from home  to become an ascetic. he escaped  one night, traded in his luxurious robes for a yellow one, and joined a group of ascetics for 5 years.
Great self denial
Aum... aum...
Siddhartha started to study and acquire from different masters. Until one day, he settled with the practice of asceticism.
Hey everyone, let's learn about asceticism.
He and 4 Kondanna brothers practiced asceticism day and night. They did not eat or drink during the practice.
Asceticism...
Despite his devotion, Siddhartha did not find the ultimate path to his questions through asceticism. Therefore, he abandoned asceticism and drank the milk offered by a lady to revive his strength.
Uh, I don't think asceticism is a path to enlightenment.
The Bodhi tree
Siddhartha Gautama continued his search. He meditated under a Bodhi Tree for 49 days. He was visited by Mara who told him to give up, but he did not. Sid saw his past lives and understood what happened after death. Siddhartha entered a state of perfect wisdom or enlightenment. Siddhartha Gautama then became the Buddha.
Give up your search. You can have gold and wealth if you give up.
Aum...
Even if my blood shall  run dry, I will not leave this seat until truth has been realized.
Ahh... I finally see now. I understand, I am enlightened.
Buddha delivered the first lesson to his disciples, the Kondanna brothers at the Loc Uyen garden.
Hey everyone, let's do some first lesson for the Buddhism religion.
Buddha then traveled all over India and taught his beliefs for 45 years.  He and his students spread the teaching to the people. During that time, Buddha obtained a number of disciples, forming a Sangha community. Everyone would always ask him if he was a god, angel, or a saint. His answer was always, I am awake. Buddha trained people to be teachers. Buddha's purpose was to awaken the world to the true nature of life.
Hello, welcome to the Sangha!
Siddhartha ends his life and dies at the age 80. He was living in ancient India for long, and he was buried in Kushinagar.
