- So, Ashoka went to Kalinga to challenge a war.
- Ashoka was very sad by seeing the violence and bloodshed in the war against Kalinga. He gave up war.

- Ashoka was the first king in history to pass his messages to the people of his kingdom through inscriptions. The inscriptions had good manners like respect elders, dont hit slaves, etc
- Ashoka then converted to Buddhism and propagated the same to other people. From then on, he followed peace and didnot think of war ever again.
