  • On May 7, 1915, a German U-boat torpedoed the British-owned luxury steamship Lusitania, killing 1,195 people including 128 Americans. The U.S. was angry but they weren't ready to go to war.
  • Later on, the Germans decided to break the Sussex Pledge. This obviously angered Americans. Nobody wanted to see innocent people being murdered, but that'swhat was happening. The Germans, however, anticipated this anger and came upwith a plan - not a very good one though.
  • ARGH! THIS IS NOT RIGHT! I don't want to get involved but it might be the only option!
  • Woodrow, calm down Sweetie!
  • We've got 'em right where we want 'em!
  • One of the problems with the German telegraph was that Mexico was in the middleof a civil war so it would be tough for them to fight America at the same time. Plus itwasn't a sure thing that Mexico would eventually gain any land back if theyhelped.
  • ARGHHHH! YOU WILL NOT WIN!
  • I LOVE war!
  • I hate war!
  • Another problem was that England intercepted the telegram. Even if Mexico would have helped, they never even got the chance because of England. England also notified the U.S. rightaway for they knew that the U.S. could help them considerably in the war.The responsefromthe U.S. was one favorable to the England and the Allies.
  • Sir, we just intercepted a secret telegram from Germany to Mexico. They want Mexico to invade the U.S. if the U.S. joins the war.
  • Notify the U.S. right away! They're not going to be happy about this!
  • The U.S. was further angered by this and after the Germans sunk 4 more American ships,Woodrow Wilson asked Congress to declare war on Germany. It was 1917and America finally entered the war.
  • Sir, we just got word that America has joined the Allies to fight.
  • NEIN!!!!! Now we're going to lose the war!
  • THE END
