Süžeeskeem Tekst

  • Act 3, Scene 1
  • We shall attend the play, my queen. WIth all my heart, and it doth much content me to hear Hamlet is so inclined.
  • So shall I hope my son will be back to his wonted way.
  • Act 3, Scene 1
  • To be, or not to be, that is the question...
  • Act 3, Scene 1
  • Heavenly powers, restore him!
  • You should not have believed my love for you. Farewell, now for you are a sinner that shall not marry.
  • Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are unable to figure out the reason behind Hamlet's mad behavior, but they inform Claudius and Gertrude that he was excited by the arrival of the players. The King and Queen, hopeful that Hamlet's mental health is improving, agree to attend the play.
  • In a soliloquy, Hamlet, once again, considers killing himself but is afraid of the consequences in the afterlife. Evident from his hesitance to avenge the King Hamlet's death, Hamlet realizes that fear turns people into cowards, and action into inaction.
  • Ophelia walks in to talk to Hamlet as planned by Polonius and Claudius. Hamlet asks Ophelia if she's honest, and then says beauty corrupts honesty. Given his hatred for women, Hamlet tells Ophelia he loved her once, then says he never loved her. He commands her to go to a nunnery, proving he is not mad due to love.
