- Christopher has gone to his Father's room in search of a book that he has been writing about the mystery of the murder behind his neighbour's dog, Wellington.

- 05 December 2001Dear Christopher, I'm so sorry that I have left you, but I know it's for the best. You may not understand now but I have left to London to live with Mr Shears. Father and I have been arguing too much and Mr Shears treats me much better. I have though about this for a long time, I you will be better off w me as well.....................

- Christopher felt sick and felt like the room was swinging from side to side, even though he knew it wasn't, with the thought that his Mother was alive and his Father lied to him
- Oh no! Christopher! What have I done!? I'm so sorry, I just, I just didn't know what to do with your Mother gone. I'm so sorry, what I'm about to tell you isn't easy, I've killed Wellington. Please forgive me.
- I'm not safe anymore with Father, I have to leave. Tomorrow morning I'm going to leave to London, to stay with Mother.
