  • 'And something more! It listens! If you put it in your ear, Montag, I can... hear and analyze the fireman's world, find its weaknesses, without danger.'
  • Faber explains to Montag his green bullet, a listening device. After agreeing to a plan to frame the other firemen, Montag sets off home with Faber in his ear.
  • 'It looks like a Seashell Radio.'
  • Angered by Mildred's visitors and their conversations, Guy brings out a book of poems to read, much to his wife's dismay and horror. Faber, who is still in his ear, does not agree with this. After the reading, Mrs. Phelps is brought to tears and Mrs. Bowles is extremely angry.
  • 'I-I... don't know, don't know, I just don't know, oh, oh...'
  • 'I'm trotting straight home... I won't ever come in this fireman's crazy house again in my lifetime!'
  • Pg. 100-101
  • Guy hides the books in his yard after the argument. He then goes to work, only for the Firehall to receive a new call. The report leads them to a surprising location... the Montag house!
