  • I was heavily involved in teaching technology and working with our LMS. Overtime I realized my skill set was best suited for helping instructors create materials to help engage students through technology and help them use the resources available to create organized engaging content.
  • My name is Josh Bolakowski. I am the LMS (Canvas) administrator at Lake Michigan College in southwestern Michigan. I am part of the Instructional Design and Teaching Technologies (IDTT) team, which works to support faculty with resources and PD to improve all aspects of instruction across all modalities. I have been in this role now for about six months. Prior to coming to LMC I worked in K12 for 17 years, 15 as a Business Ed Teacher and two in administration.
  • I want to explore game-based learning and gamification more because I’ve seen it work. When I had the chance to add games and gamified concepts to a class it was a different world. However I felt like I was always just winging it so I want to learn more about the how and why behind the ideas so I can help our staff better utilize these effective tools in our courses.
  • I guess one of my big questions is, how can instructors most easily add game-based components to their courses while balancing the never-ending to do list that comes with being an educator? I’ve seen first hand that it is time well spent, but finding ways to get an easy win to help get people (especially the reluctant ones) on board would be useful.
