- Ulysses S. Grant was a very important man in history. In early 1864, during the Civil War, he became the lieutenant general for the Union. He was the best general they have had. He made quick and smart decisions during their battles and led the Union side to have many victories.
- The South will win the war!
- No the North will win!
- On April 9, 1865, after the North had many wins over the South, General Lee surrendered to General Grant at Appomattox, Virginia. With the great leadership of Grant, the South had no chance of winning the war, which led to the surrender to Grant. The Union had officially won and the Civil War was finally over.
- The North finally wins!
- Grant's amazing and heroic military leadship caused him to become very popular. Many Radical Republicans wanted Grant to become president. In 1868, Grant won the presidential election and was now the president of the United States. He then played a major role in Reconstruction. We will never forget the many amazing sacrefises he has made for this country.
- As president, I will fight for what is right!
