Journey as a Joule

- Class, today we are going to take a field trip as a Joule!
- One day, Ms. Frizzle wanted to surprise the class by taking a field trip. We are going to be Joules today! she declared. Some people were scared, but others were excited!
- On this Tuesday morning, Ms. Frizzle transported the bus to the sun, and that's where it all started. Right now we are light energy coming from the sun! We are on our way to the cells of a plant to help it grow!
- As the tractor came to collect the carrots (Chemical Energy), the carrot that the bus was on didn't get picked up!
- "Okay class, it appears as if we got skipped over." Lets zoom forward a couple hundred of years when we get found. As they traveled to the future, they found out they had turned into coal! (This is still Chemical Energy and Potential Energy) and it finally got collected.
- As the coal was gathered, it was taken to a power plant to be heated up. This Potential energy got converted into thermal energy.
- The bus sat on the carrot. Ms. Frizzle explained to the students, The plant grew from the energy the sunlight provided, and now it is ready to eat! When Oliver eats the carrot, it will be turned into chemical energy!
