- In this scene from The Outsiders Ponyboy and Johnny are confronted by 5 socs at the park. Johnny and Ponyboy experience character vs society conflict in this scene. In chapter 4 it says, "'I killed him,'he said slowly. 'I killed that boy.'" (Hinton 51). The boys experience character vs society because the greasers and the socs are different groups of people. Because Johnny killed the socs its character vs society and not character vs character.
- After Johnny and Ponyboy get away from the crime scene, they go and find Dally. They try to find Dally to get a gun and some money.
- They go onto a train because Dally told them to got to a church that is on Jay Mountain, and stay there until he comes to find them.
