Süžeeskeem Tekst

  • "Before my God, I might not this believe without the sensible and true avouch of my own eyes."
  • "I shall in my best obey you."
  • "...we beseech you, bend you to remain here in the cheer and comfort of our eye..."
  • "My lord, I think I saw father last night."
  • "For God's love let me hear!"
  • The three sentinels, Horatio, Marcellus and Bernardo witness old King Hamlet's ghost in the watch tower and decide to tell the king what they've seen.
  • "Angels and ministers of grace defend us!"
  • In the castle, new king Claudius and his wife, Gertrude, beg Hamlet to stay in Denmark. He agrees to.
  • "A murder most foul, as in the best it is, but this most foul, strange and unimaginable."
  • The three sentinels run into Hamlet on the way and tell him in secret what they've seen. Hamlet decides to join their next watch.
  • "Revenge his foul and most unnatural murder."
  • The ghost appears again, this time beckoning Hamlet to an excluded area, to talk alone. Hamlet agrees, though the sentinels believe they should follow.
  • The ghost reveals to Hamlet that he's been murdered by the new king and asks for his son to avenge him.
  • Hamlet agrees to avenge him and swears to keep this information to himself. He returns to the guards and swears them to secrecy without telling them anything.
  • "You have my word, good bye. I have sworn."
