- Myrna Carter didn't know how or why she decided to get involved. She was shy, the kids would tease her and she began to build her life with books.
- One day her and her friend Carol attended Dr. Kings meeting. He preached that if anything happened, you had to turn the other cheek, to not fight back. These words spoke to Myrna and even though she was a little scared at first she went up to the front anyways.
- On one of the marches they separated them into groups. The first group came out of church singing.
- The group went down Sixteenth Street and waiting for them were the police, immediately arresting them.
- Little did the police officers know, a second group (with Myrna) went the opposite direction.
- When the police finally realized there was another group, they called the paddy wagon and hauled them off to jail. In jail they would sing their hearts out and pray.
