How come when I slammed on the breaks it sent me flying into my wind shield? I really hurt my head.
Sure, it is all explained in Newton's First Law of Motion which says, an object in motion will remain in motion unless an unbalanced force acts upon it and an object at rest will remain at rest unless an unbalanced force acts upon it. In simplest terms this means an object won't move unless something moves it and an object won't stop moving until something stops it.
Inerti-what
That would be because of inertia.
Inertia is an object's resistance to changing its state of motion meaning in motion or at rest.
I think I am starting to get it, but I still don't fully understand. Can you simplify it for me?
I never really understood the impact wearing a seatbelt has on my safety.
This is why you must always where a seat belt because when you slam on the breaks it stops the car, but it does not stop the person in the car, so you will continue moving forward until something stops you. In this case it was a painful windshield when it should have been a harmless seatbelt.
Now I know to always wear a seatbelt
Great job kid, next time Newton's second Law of Motion.
