  • Let's go to the city! Gatsby you resemble the advertisement of the man, you know the advertisement of the man—
  • Alright, Alright! Daisy let's go in this circus ride.
  • No!, I'll go with Gatsby
  • As Tom finds out that there is something going on with Gatsby and Daisy he agrees to Daisy's idea to go to lunch. Tom, Nick, and Jordan ride in Gatsby's yellow Rolls Royce and leave Daisy and Gatsby to ride in Tom's coupe.

  • Valley of Ashes: Wilson's Garage
  • Mr.Wilson has realized the same thing as Tom about his wife. There is no difference between men, in intelligence or race, it's so profound as the difference between the sick and the well.
  • As Tom and Gatsby race towards the plaza, Tom has to stop for gas. Nick and Jordan see Myrtle staring towards them and Mr. Wilson is looking pale and sick as he realizes his wife is having a affair with a secret someone. Myrtle stares at the car and jealously looks at Jordan, thinking that she is Daisy.

  • Didn't you say you went to Oxford? When did you actually go?
  • I went for 5 months actually, as part of the military.
  • I suppose the latest thing is to sit back and let Mr. Nobody from Nowhere make love to your wife. Well, if that's the idea you can count me out. . .
  • Tom please stop! Let's go home.
  • She only married you because I was poor and she was tired of waiting for me. It was a terrible mistake, but in her heart she never loved any one except me!
  • Me and Daisy have been through everything. You're part of some shady business anyway.
  • The group arrives at the hotel. Tom confronts Daisy's affair, humiliating Gatsby, his status and his business. Daisy begs Tom to stop but Tom keeps on going. Tom, knowing he won, tells Daisy to go home with Gatsby in the Rolls Royce because Gatsby won't flirt with her anymore.

  • The Plaza Hotel
  • Today's my birthday... I'm thirty. The promise of a decade of loneliness, a thinning list of single men to know, a thinning brief-case of enthusiasm, thinning hair. But it's okay I have Jordan
  • Want any of this stuff? Jordan? . . . Nick?"
  • As Gatsby and Daisy leave, Tom takes the wine and starts to head out. Nick suddenly remembers that it's his birthday and he his thirty now. With mixed feelings about this, the group also heads out.

  • Meanwhile, back at Wilson's Garage
  • Daisy thought that driving would clear her mind from all the chaos of the evening. As she is driving, Mr. Wilson yells a Myrtle for cheating and then she runs out thinking that Toms in the yellow car then Daisy hits her, killing her. They both drive off hurriedly. The rest of the group see's the ordeal a while later.

  • A little while later...back at the Buchanan Household
  • Was Daisy driving?
  • Yes but of course I'll say I was. It all happened in a minute but it seemed to me that she wanted to speak to us, thought we were somebody she knew.
  • How long are you going to wait? You'd better come home and get some sleep
  • I want to wait here till Daisy goes to bed. Good night, old sport.
  • Tom goes inside the house to find Daisy and Nick decodes to go home. He finds Gatsby hiding in the bushes waiting for Daisy. Nick questions him about the Myrtle situation and he reveals that Daisy hit her. Nick goes home but Gatsby waits until Daisy is asleep.
