  • Louis XVI calls the estates general because French government is having financial problems. He understands at this point the people want liberty and an equal say in voting.
  • July 9th,1789
  • A meeting is formed to discuss financial matters for France but equal say is not given to the 3rd estate. When the 1st and 2nd estate states that they want to raise taxes the 3rd estate disagrees but the 1st and 2nd estate dislike this, kick them out, and prepare to raise taxes anyway.
  • January 21, 1793
  • The 3rd Estate declares the National assembly when equal representation was not given and taxes are raised unwillingly. An oath is also made, The Tennis Court Oath, written by Emmanuel Sieyes. It stated, "not to separate, and to reassemble wherever circumstances require, until the constitution of the kingdom is established."

  • Once the National Assembly rises the French revolution begins to take off when they successfully storm the Bastille in order to obtain weapons, making them realize they can defy/manipulate their government.
  • A few years after the Bastille is stormed the 3rd estate continues to fight for their rights. They end up beheading Louis and his wife and the revolution fully takes off.
