  • How Biogeography & fossil record supportNatural selection
  • According to natural selection, nature chooses the best variation of an organism to survive and thrive in the environment
  • For example, polar bears are the same species as brown bears but through biogeography (isolation) and natural selection they have changed to a white coat to better camouflage into the environment
  • This is how biogeography and fossil record support natural selection. Bibliography national geographic and science direct
  • As an animal dies its bones get buried under the ground over time. Over extended periods of time rock builds up over it in layers. From the amount of layers we can tell what material was on the ground at that time and how long ago it was depending on its depth. If this lines up with another country it is likely they were once connected. This relates to natural selection as we can see the previous species that are related to current ones but died out through natural selection.
  • You may be wondering how species can be alike but so far away on a map. We know that they might have been able to once cross frozen oceans through biogeography but fossil record reveals that countries could were connected and how long a fossil has been dead.
