- Exposition- Angel, Max, Nudge, Fang, Iggy, and Gasman are 6 kids who are mutants that have escaped from a evil place called the School from the help of Jeb Batchelder. They protect themselves from wolf like people called Erasers.
- Rising Action- Max finds out that Angel was abducted my Erasers and was taken to the School. Gazzy and Iggy bomb a few Erasers. Also, the Erasers have found the flocks house so, Iggy and Gazzy have to find a place to stay hidden. Max, Nudge, and Fang try to find the school so, they can save Angel from the evil scientists.
- Rising Action 2-While Max, Nudge, and Fang were trying to save Angel they were also abducted by the Erasers and taken to the School. Fang, Max, Nudge, and Angel escape from School when Max creates a distraction by biting Ari's fingers. Gasman and Iggy come to the School with a flock of hawks who attack the Erasers, while the Max and the others fled.
- Climax- While Angel was locked up in the School, she heard peoples thoughts. So, she was able to find out that there is a place where information is stored about the flock's family's. Angel thinks she heard that the people say is was called a Institute and it was located in New York City. She also heard that they weren't test tube babies like other hybrids, they came from biologically human mothers.
- Falling Action- Max's voice keeps insisting that," You are destined to save the world." Which leads them to a basement of a office building, where all the School's files are stored. While they print the files, they see more hybrids. Instead of leaving them caged Max decides to free them.
- You are destined to save the world, Max.
- Resolution- The flock manages to escape from the Erasers, but in the process Max kills Ari. Which could be her biological brother or it might not be. All of the flock gets their biological parents information, but Max who tries not to be too disappointed. They discover that most of their families are located in Washington D.C. , and so Max makes the decision they'll go there first.
