- Charlie Gordon is interviewed, then is presented with rorschach cards. Charlie does not understand how people see things and images in the cards because all he sees is spilled ink.
- Climax
- Shut up! He can't help it!
- Charlie is brought to a bar by his coworkers and his cola was spiked by a coworker so he gets drunk. He was told to dance with a coworker named Ellen but kept falling because someone was tripping him. He gets embarrassed after realizing his "friends" were only using him to make fun of. He runs out into the street and threw up.
- Falling action
- Charlie kinda quits, kinds get's fired from his job because all his coworkers but one signed a petition to leave because they thought he got too smart.
- Resolution
- Charlie goes to a restaurant, stands up for a boy who he see's his "old" self in because the boy seemed "dumb."
- Algernon dies and Charlie figures out that he will regress too and that Algernon's brain got smaller.
- Charlie has gone back to what he was like at the beginning and mistakenly goes to Ms.Kinnian's class
