- March 6-9, 1988
- Gallaudet University made the decision for Zinister to become the next president. Students didnt like that she wasnt deaf and had no deaf experience. Students demanded a deaf president, the resigning of Spillman,51% deaf members on the board of trustees and no reprisals. STudents began to protest, hold rallies, and have plenty speeches. With Zinister refusing to leave students gain more anger, amd congress urged her to resign.
- March 10-13, 1988
- Students not letting up, closing down the school and continuing the protest. Almost 3,000 protesters marched on the Gallaudets property for the cause. Once the students started to recieve their demands they started to let up on all of the protesting. "we still have a dream" they wanted to be heard. Spillman soon resigned and King Jordan was the next and first deaf president at Gallaudet within 124 years.
- Gallaudet students had all of their demands ment and figured out that "deaf people can do anything but hear", leaving their mark on society for the greater good. Forever changed the deaf education
