Scout, Dill, and Jem go and try to look through Boo Radley's window at night but get scared by Nathan Radley. They make it home but Jem looses his pants. When they get caught, they say it was strip poker so they wouldn't get in trouble.

Jem tells Scout that when he went back for his pants they had been folded over the fence and sewn up. They find more gifts in the knot-hole and write a thank you letter to the Boo Radley but the knot-hole is filled with cement. Nathan later tells them that the tree was "dying".

Winter came by and it started snowing. Scout thought the world was ending because she had never seen snow before. Later on in the night, Miss Maudie's house had caught on fire. Scout was cold by Boo Radley's fence and at some point put a blanket on Scout. She didn't realize until she got home later that night.

Because Atticus is defending Tom Robinson, an African American, Scout gets bullied and called words for it. Christmas time, Atticus and Scout go over to Aunt Alexandra's. Scout punches Francis, her cousin, because he called her names.

Important Quote: Mockingbirds don't do one thing but make music for us to enjoy. They don't eat up people's gardens, don't nest in corncribs, they don't do one thing but sing their hearts out for us. That's why it's a sin to kill a mockingbird.
There is a dog wth rabies named Tim Johnson and everyone is scared. Atticus kills the dog in just one shot and Scout is impressed. He was known as "One-Shot Finch". People say that God gave him an "unfair advantage".

Jem gets mad at Mrs. Dubose's and destroys her camellia bushes. He later gets punished by Atticus and he makes him read to her everyday for a month.
