  • Exposition
  • Rising Action
  • Climax
  • Its true. Your parents tried to give you up when you were younger. YOu were desnitied to kill your father.
  • THIS IS INSANE!
  • Oedipus telling his citizens that he, as president, will help the country get rid of the deadly plague. He tells them he has sent Creon to the oracle in order to find out what is needed to be done to help the country.
  • Falling Action
  • I AM SO SORRY, MY DEAR LAIUS!
  • Creon came back from the oracle and told Oedipus that the only way for him to help the city is to figure out who killed the former president, Laius. Oedipus promises to figure out who it is and send them to prison.  He then sends a text to the blind prophet, Tiresias, to see if he has any information about this murderer.
  • Resolution
  • Tiresias would not tell Oedipus his knowledge until Oedipus finally threatened to accuse him. Tiresias was fed up with Oedipus's attitude and confessed that Oedipus was the murderer. Oedipus did not believe him at all; however, an old citizen was brought into his office to confirm this claim. The man told Oedipus the whole unfortunate story.
  • You are the murderer Oedipus. You killed your own father.
  • Unbelievable! You are a liar and a fraud. You and Creon are conspiring against me. Your own president!
  • If you don tell me who the murderer is, I will blame it all on you!
  • Jocasta became overwhelmed with the fact that Oedipus found out the truth. She committed herself to a mental institution. Oedipus has finally calmed down but is in disbelief yet trying to comfort her. His mom/wife is sobbing uncontrollably, shouting all sorts of things in a state of wild confusion. She cries for Laius and comes to terms with her appalling fate. Oedipus cannot bare this, so he makes the decision to turn himself in.
  • Oedipus unfortunately accepted his awful fate. He put himself in prison with a life sentence. He feels as though he does not deserve to walk the Earth anymore among the other citizens. He feels like he failed his country and needs to pay for his sins. He killed his father and married his mother!
