  • After giving birth:

  • After checking VS:

  • It is vital to give patient a clean gown and a warm blanket if she is experiencing chills and is shaking 10-15 minutes after birth. This is normal as this may be caused by low temperature of the delivery room or a result of the sudden release of pressure on pelvic nerves or of excess epinephrine production during labor.
  • After performing perineal flushing:

  • It is important to reassure the mother if she is experiencing worries as a new mother as she would only want to be in good condition to care for her new baby. As a nurse, we must do our best to keep her calm and assure her that her anxieties and worries will pass right away, be another source of support for her in recovering, and provide the best mental and emotional care for not only the mother, but the baby as well.
