  • Brutus' Speech- Ethos
  • “Believe me on my honor”
  • Brutus' Speech- Pathos
  • "it is not that I loved Caesar less, but that I loved rome more".
  • Brutus' Speech- Logos
  • "Would you prefer that Caesar was Alive and you all die as slaves".
  • This piece of evidence shows ethos because Brutus is speaking on behalf of his reputation. He is known for being an honorable man. He says to the people he can relate to them because he is "One of them" and he's one of the good ones.
  • Antony's Speech- Ethos
  • "Friends, Romans, countrymen, give me your attention".
  • When Brutus declares killing him is for the good of Rome, this makes the audience feel patriotism. It shows that Brutus puts his loyalty first rather than his friendship. This makes the crowd feel loved and grateful.
  • Antony's Speech- Pathos
  • "If only the common people could hear his last will and testament".
  • This was Brutus's proof to the crowd that Caesar wasn't who he said he was. Brutus justified himself to the crowd by saying this. He told them that if Caesar had lived, he would've enslaved the citizens and taken power.
  • Antony's Speech- Logos
  • "Did this seem like ambition in Caesar".
  • When Antony begins to speak he starts off using the words "Friends, Romans, and countrymen". In doing this its shows that he is one of the "common people" and not a stranger.  He is known in the town and like Brutus he is respected.
  • Mentioning the will to the crowd grabbed their attention and brought their focus to it. Antony knew this would appeal to their emotion and want him to read it. Later on, once he read the will this made the crowd feel guilty for the death of Caesar.
  • During Brutus's speech, he claimed that Caesar's ambition was too strong for Rome, and for that he must be killed. On the other hand, Antony disagrees with this claim and gives reasons as to why. As an example, Antony shared "When the poor would cry, Caesar would weep". This proved to the crowd that Caesar in fact did care about Rome.
