- Hello! My name is Olga Porkowski and here by me is my family
- I am on my way to New York as I leave on a manifest from Poland
- In Poland I worked as a seamstress at the age of 42
- Did not pay well :|
- While I was on the ship I saw many individuals and families also making their way to America, I think they are in search for better lives as well.
- I boarded the manifest that was payed by and American company
- During this time many diseases were popping up especially my town in Poland, passengers on the ship were frequently coughing
- The journey to America did have some negative aspects
- Before I celebrated even more there are still a few more steps which is going through Ellis Island
- Finally! I have made it to America (well New York)Coming of the ship I admired the beauty of the land
- Second test was by a government inspector to show if the immigrant met the legalrequirement
- At Ellis island immigrant had to be inspected to be accepted entry to America
- First test was the physical examination, if people were experiencing a serious health problem they would be sent home
