- Odysseus arrives at Calypso's island. Hes there for 3 years and she falls in love with him and won't let him go home.

- Hermes arrives on Calypso's island to tell her a message from Zeus. He ordered that she let Odysseus leave the island.
- Book 9
- Odysseus and his crew land on the city of Ismarus, the city of the Cicones. Odysseus raids Cicones, robbing and killing them until they kill 72 of his men, driving the rest of his crew out to sea.
- 10 days on the sea and Odysseus finds the coastline of the lotus eaters. He sent out two men to adventure the island. The men ate the lotus flower and were under the flowers trance. They did not want to leave the island. Odysseus had to drag them back to the boat, crying and wanting to go back for the flower.
- Odyesseus and his crew land of the island of Cyclops. They spent days feasting on wine and wild goats while observing the mainland where the cyclops live.
