- Then the food is broken down in the stomach into small pieces. The stomach contains hydrochloric acid which is very corrosive.
- In the small intestine the important minerals and nutrients are absorbed into the blood.
- In the large intestine, water is absorbed into the blood and waste is taken out through the anus.
