- This is Ponyboy walking back from the movie theatres . Ponyboy had 2 brothers Soda and Darry, Ponyboy was the youngest. Him and his brothers were in a neighborhood gang called the greasers they always had to watch out for the other gang the Socs.
- I was coming out of watching a Paul Newman film. I was worried about how I was going to get home. I was walking alone and that is a bad sign as a greaser.

- I was almost home when I saw a red corvair following me. I was scared and I was sweating. I had never been jumped.
- Pony boy noticed him being followed by a red corvair. SInce he is a greaser, the socs always beat up the greasers and get into fights with them. Pony boy was the youngest of the gang and his brothers. He had never been jumped and was scared.

- The socs finally got off the car and beat up Ponyboy. They had a knife and cut him. His brother Darry finally gets there and helps him
- "Were gonna do you a favor grease."
- "Hey grease!"
- They had a knife. I was shaking and sweating.
- "Were gonna cut all that greasy hair off."
- Are you all right, Ponyboy?
- Ponyboy just had minor injuries. His brother Soda and Darry got there. Darry was shaking Ponyboy since he was in shock of what had just happened.
- Are you all right, Ponyboy?
- I'm ok. Now quit shaking me.
- Yes, I know I just didn't think anything would happen.
- You can't be walking alone like that.
- Soda was explaining to Ponyboy not to walk alone. The greasers Ponyboys and his brothers gang are always getting into fights. They can never be alone.
