- The highwayman is riding across the road.
- The highwayman knocks on the landlords black eyed daughter, Bess. But in another building not too far was Tim the ostler who was blinded with love of the landlords black eyed daughter Bess. Tim got jealous of the highwayman and told the soldiers where he was.
- The soldiers marched towards the highwayman.
- Bess tries to warn the highwayman not to come.
- The highwayman does not stop when he sees her body and dies by the soldiers.
- Though Bess and and the highwayman are both dead their souls unite once again.
