- This is the scene where Douglass faints due to multiple reasons that could have been dehydration, sleep deprived, and very hot from the heat. This is where Mr. Covey screams for him to get up and get back up to work. Mr.Covey kicks him as Douglass is unable to get back up.
- GET UP RIGHT NOW! GET BACK TO WORK BEFORE I MAKE YOU!
- It is way too hot...I can't get up
- This image shows the scene when Douglass and Mr. Covey fight, and Mr.Covey calls for his assistant Hughes to come and help him making the fight unfair. Before this fight, Mr.Sanders gave Douglass a root that supposedly protects you from getting whipped.
- I wonder if it's the root..?

- This scene shows that even though Douglass is a slave, he never got whipped after having the root from Mr.Sanders and the fight with Mr.Covey. This shows as he is with a different slave master, he still doesn't get whipped.
- He's not worth it..last time did not go well.
- I cannot believe the root that Mr.Sanders gave me all the way back is real.
