  • Everybody is finally equal! Not only equal before God and the law but equal in every way.
  • Every ballerina wears sashweights and masks. No one would be equal if we were prettier or better at ballet than them
  • George has to wear a little mental handicap to keep himself from thinking something smarter than anyone else. Hazel doesn't have to wear one because of her average intelligence.
  • Harrison has just escaped from jail, where he was incarcerated for having extreme intelligence and being an amazing athlete.
  • Harrison and the dancer leaped so high that they were able to kiss the ceiling. They were also able to stay suspended in the air.
  • Kurt Vonnegut wrote this story to made a point about society and human nature. In society all we talk about is making the world equal, giving everyone the same chances. What does this mean? Vonnegut makes it clear in his exaggerated story, Harrison Bergeron. He shows what society would look like if everyone were equal. Everyone would have the same intelligence level, no one would be prettier or more handsome, and we would be equal in every aspect. Vonnegut shows that equality can mean denying opportunities to all people so that everyone is disadvantaged. Society would be leveled to the lowest common denominator so that no one would be disadvantaged. He shows the bad side to equality and the type of world it could lead to.
