  • The dialogue featured in the example above impacts the conflict of the story because this shows how much Darry cares about Ponyboy which is why he slapped him. This goes back to a conflict because Darry wasn't supposed to be a father figure so early in his life but since his parents had passed it was time for him to step up and make sure nothing happened to his brothers.
  • The dialogue featured in the example above impacts the conflict of the story because the church was on fire and Johnny didn't even think for a second and right away was determined to save those kids. Ponyboy was confused and a little scared but then got over it as soon as Johnny was in the church. Dally thought they were crazy but then helped pull out Johnny before the church collapsed on him.
  • The dialogue featured in the example above impacts the conflict of the story because Johnny passed away. Dally is angry because that was really the only person he loved. Ponyboy is worried about the gang because Johnny was the only member who could make everyone get along with each other and be at peace.
