- Brown v. Board of Education- May 17, 1954
- In the 1950's schools were still segregated so this was taken up with the Supreme Court for it to be rectified. The Supreme Court would state that separate schooling facilities were unconstitutional and a violation of the 14th Amendment. This would result in integration within school districts so white and blacks were no longer separated.
- Montgomery Bus Boycott- December 5, 1955
- One day a woman named Rosa Parks refused to get out of her designated bus seat for a white passenger. She was jailed and as a result a civil rights protest was led by Martin Luther King Jr. Many African Americans refused to ride the buses for 381 days and walked as a way of commute.
