- Lennie was suppoted to be out looking for wood for the fire and came back with a dead mouse in his pocket. (Lennie loves to pet things. )
- Curley is a mean little guy who was a boxer and who is recently married. He doesn’t like Lennie right away, supposedly because Lennie is bigger than Curley George has a bad feeling about both Curley and his wife, and he tells Lennie to avoid them as much as possible.
- There they meet Candy, the old swamper, who is missing his right hand and who is constantly followed by his old sheep dog. He tells George and lennie about the bosses son. And to be care around him

- George tells Slim what happened in Weed with the girl in the red dress. She was frighten by lennie's petting cried rape and he and lennie had to run for their lives or at least hide in a ditch for a while
