“One second I was standing. The next, slammed backward onto the ground. A car with black darkened windows. How did I miss it?” (Saeed 48).This picture shows my theme because it shows that life isn't fair for her because first she gets run over by a car and then Jawad tries to steal her pomegranate that she bought for her family.
“Later that week, I ran Nasreen Bajis' bath and sprinkled lavender petals into the water. I laid out her clothes on her bed as she stepped into the bathroom” (Saeed 110).
This connects to my theme because it also shows that life isn't fair. Amal was taken away from her family to be a servant at an estate just because she didn't give up the pomegranate.
“Today I was free, and if I didn't know what the future held, I knew I was going home. And right now, in this moment, this was enough” (Saeed 226).This connects to my theme of if you don't fight for change then there will be none. Amal had to make a change to get herself out of there to finally go home to live with her family again.
