- Britain and France honoring their pledge with Poland declared war on Germany on September 3 1939. Quickly mobilizing their army's and manning the defenses on the Maginot line during the Phony war.

- Canada had a choice, To stay neutral or to join the fight. Many Canadians wanted to stay neutral, most Britain's thought Canada would stay neutral and many Americans were taken back when Canada did not stay neutral.
- On September 7 1939, the Canadian parliament held a special meeting for a three day debate to discuses Canada's involvement in the war.

- On September 9 1939, The vote was all but unanimous. Canada would be joining the war independently to support Britain and France
