- "Can I walk with you? I am, Clarisse McClellan."
- "You know, I'm not scared of you..."

- This is Guy Montag. He is a fireman. Firemen must rid of any books as well as anyone who has retained information, or knowledge from the book that was found and now being destroyed.
- "That's against the law."
- "Have you ever read any of the books before you burn them?"
- While walking, Guy Montag runs into Clarisse McClellan. She finds out that he is a fireman.
- Her house is lit up... mine is dark and gloomy.
- Clarisse McClellan tells Guy Montag that, she is not scared of him.
- Am I happy?
- Clarisse McClellan asks Guy Montag if he ever read any books before burning them. Guy Montag proceeds to tell Clarisse that it is against the law to do so.
- Before going in their homes, Guy Montag notices how dark and gloomy his house is compared to Clarisse's house.
- Guy Montag is in deep though with the question that Clarisse McClellan had asked him. He wasn't sure if he truly is happy or not.
