- one day the narrator gets a letter from his childhood friend, Roderick iusher, asking him to visit him
- when he gets there he is toldby Broderick that his sister is dying and that he now isn't able to do much because he has developed hypersensibility
- the narrator tries to distract him by painting with him, writing poems and reading books
- one day roderick's sister dies suddenly so roderick and the narrator put her in a coffin and into a compartment in the basement as a temporary place before burying her
- one week later roderick comes into the narrator's room and starts acting strange, so to calm him the narrator reads him a story ut while telling it he hears some weird noises in the background, suddenly Broderick frantically tells the narrator that they have buried his sister alive and as if on cue she appears in the doorway and collapses over his brother, killing them both
- the author runs out of the house from fear, and just when he gets out he sees that the house has started to sink and collapse in on it's self, so he runs away from the fall of the house of Usher
