- "King Arthur was the first king of England. Arthur was a wimpy little kid, and there was this magic sword stuck in a big stone. The old king died, and whoever pulled the sword could be the next king. A lot of big tough dudes tried to pull the sword to no avail. Then one day, Arthur tried it when nobody was looking and the sword slid out. He became king." pg.16

- Max invites Kevin over to his house. Kevin sets him straight about his mom, Gwen, and starts talking about the story of Kind Arthur.

- Gwen, Kevin's mom, comes to Max's house and starts asking frantically where Kevin is. She then puts Kevin in a red wagon and drags him off hurriedly.

- Gwen feels bad about running away from Max so she invites him over for supper.
- Max goes over for supper at Kevin's and Gwen says that he looks exactly like his father. Max's father is in prison.
- "What she means is, you're a spitting image of your old man." pg.25
- Max, Kevin, and Gwen go outside and to eat their supper and Max is having a great time.
