- A fight breaks out on the streets of Verona, between two Montague servants and two Capulet servants and Benvolio and Tybalt escalate it. Later, Capulet and Montague arrive and continue the sword fight. The prince arrives and puts an end to the fight by threatening execution.
- Act 1.4- Before Masquerade
- Queen Mab...
- Paris talks of marrying Juliet to Capulet, who finally gives him a chance at the masquerade. He then gives the invitation list to the servant, who can't read and asks Romeo for help. Romeo and Benvolio talk of going to the masquerade, Benvolio for Romeo to find another girl and Romeo for Rosaline.
- Act 1.5- The Masquerade
- Lady Capulet talks to Juliet about marriage. The nurse makes a joke, which Juliet is unfazed by. The nurse and Lady Capulet talk about how attractive Paris is, hinting that she should marry him. Juliet shows no interest.
- Act 1.5- After the Masquerade
- On the way to the masquerade, Romeo talks of love and Mercutio mocks him with a speech about Queen Mab.

- Romeo is not turned away by Capulet. He then sees Juliet's "unreal" beauty and falls in love.
- You are beautiful and I am in love with you
- After everyone had left the party, the nurse informs Juliet that she was with Romeo Montegue. Juliet exclaims that her only love came from her only hate.
