- On August 27, 1776, The battle of long island took place. As the British sail into New York City onto long island where we are settled. As they started embarking the boats, war starts we were outnumbered by the 15,000 British soldiers. We (the Americans) only had 2,000 soldiers! We (the Americans) were forced to retreat and the Americans lost the battle. George Washington lost about 20% of his army in this loss.
- Battle of Brandywine
- On December 26, 1776, The Battle of Trenton took off. Washington leads his soldiers across the frozen Delaware River on Christmas Day and ambushed the Hessians (Germans) in surprise. The Americans won this battle in Trenton.
- Battle of Saratoga
- January 3, 1777, The Battle of Trenton started with George Washington and his army out maneuvering the British. This caused the British to retreat and the Americans won this island.
- Summary
- On September 11, 1777, The Battle of Brandywine started. Unfortunately America lost attempting to keep Philadelphia from being captured, but George Washington's plan failed caused him to losing about 1,000 soldiers. This ended the American's winning streak to the British.
- On September 19, 1777, The Battle of Saratoga took off. Washington was not there but the Americans some one this battle, because we got help from the French.
- The war went well for the American's (patriots). After the win of George Washington and his army at Trenton, Princeton and the turning point at Saratoga. Unfortunately they lost some battles but they finally won the war.
