On the River Thames, Marlow is telling his story of 'Heart of Darkness' to his fellow crewmates.
Upon arrival in the Congo, Marlow is greeted by Native Africans being used by the Company to harvest ivory.
While working for the Company, Marlow is left to work on a ship that is broken. He is told of a man named 'Kurtz' who is much like a celebrity among the pilgrims. In an attempt to meet this famous Kurtz, Marlow begins repair on the boat.
Marlow and his crewmates being a journey doe the Congo River in search of 'Kurtz'. While on this adventure, they hear of more appraisal to the name of 'Kurtz'. Appraisal of how he is seen as a God to some of the nearby natives.
On their journey, Marlow and his crew, aboard the ship, are attacked by natives on shore.
While escaping from the Natives, Marlow and his crew come across Kurtz's hut. Upon seeing Kurtz's hut, Marlow knows instantly that Kurtz was the one who sent the Natives after their ship. Marlow also finds a sick Kurtz and attempts to bring Kurtz back to Europe.
