  • Where does rain come from?

  • I'd like you to meet Tim . He is a rain drop.
  • Tim came from a body of water like an ocean or lake.
  • When the sun came out it heated the water turning it into steam.
  • That steam creates clouds. Now Tim could find himself in different types of clouds. Stratus, Cumulus, and Cirrus.
  • A stratus cloud is thin and flat with undefined edges. A stratus cloud usually produces a light drizzle or mist. It is formed in the lower part of the atmosphere.
  • Whereas a cumulus cloud is thick and puffy at the top and flat on the bottom. A cumulus cloud will often produce heavy storms. The cloud can be formed in the higher part of the atmosphere.
  • And last, but not least the cirrus cloud which are formed high in the atmosphere where it is colder. The precipitation from this cloud doesn't reach the ground.
  • All of these clouds , after gathering a lot of water, will break down giving us rain. Then the Water cycle will start all over again.
  • Wow! I never new that.
