Adam and Eve had two sons. Cain was the oldest and Abel was the youngest. Cain was a farmer while Abel was a shepherd.

God was pleased with Abel's offering but not with Cain's offering. Cain became very jealous of his brother.

One day, they decided to offer a sacrifice to the Lord. Cain offered some of his old harvest while Abel brought his first born lamb from his flock of sheep. He killed it and gave the best parts of it to the Lord.

Cain, I do not accept your offering! Why are you

angry? Why that scowl on your face? If you had done the right thing, you would be smiling, but because you have done evil, sin is crouching at your door. It wants to rule you, but you must overcome it

Cain told Abel to come with him to the fields. He let jealousy take over and he killed his own brother.

When the Lord asked Cain where his brother was, he lied, and said he did not know.

Where is your brother Abel?

I don't know!

Then God confronted him about the terrible thing he did to his brother.

Why have you done this terrible thing? Your brother's blood is crying out to from the ground, like a voice calling for revenge.
